Ultimately you know yourself better than anyone else and what you are going to want see when you use your bathroom everyday. Leaving a personal signature is a characteristic of every successful designer.
The first aspect to consider in abathroom renovationis to think about how your plans will match the rest of your house. This will be the compass that guides your designing. If your house resembles country living don’t incorporate a Japanese inspired bathroom. When envisioning your new bathroom think about how it will mesh with your home overall.
This is where your personality kicks in a little more. Your taste will match your personality so think about what you lean towards. Do you like sleek and easy-to-maintain glass or maybe the classic, warm feel of hardwood floors?
Think about what you liked in the previous section, do you err towards modern of niche. This needs to be decided so that your décor will mirror your style. This is when you can play with color or pops of color with tile or rugs. Adding various textures adds aesthetic and kinesthetic appeal. Get out of the box, for example, exposed brick adds a raw yet sophisticated look and feel.
Take the theme in your house and build upon that in your bathroom. Think not only about colors, but also textures and lighting. This can be a difficult feat because there is probably multiple aspects you will want to incorporate, but they may not all fit. Always think back to your theme. Ask yourself if people get confused when they see this piece or will it flow seamlessly into my theme?
If you need inspiration consider classic designs and how you can use the resources you have to reflect your personality in the design. Don’t try and copy other designs to the tee, but make it your own and bring your distinctiveness. Look for the Bathroom Remodeling Conversation Sheet to lay out all of your remodel ideas.
You know what it feels like to be treated badly as a customer. You feel like a number…a nameless, faceless commodity awash in a sea of others just like you.
